Hungarian Pail Trial

Pail or bucket raising is still common in many parts of the world. While this old feeding system s inexpensive it has far reaching health implications because the milk is directed to the rumen not the abomasum. This impacts the digestive system with catastrophic results.

The Farm of Tejgazdaság Kft. at Balmazújváros in Hungary conducted a trial in April 2018.

17 calves were fed with Milk Bar Teats and 17 were fed from buckets.

This trial looked solely at weight gains.

Observation

Calves fed from Milk Bar Teats were 10.30kg heavier than those fed from buckets.
